The Silver Legion
The Commonwealth of America had been barely floating along. President Vanderbilt had barely held the nation afloat as the turbulent times reigned. It was under this that the Silver Legion gained power. They quietly gained influence and support, hiding their true nature from the rest of the nation. Seeing as the war had just ended the Silver Legion feared that if they were discovered that they army would crack down on them. As they built up power they prepared themselves to strike. Any strike needed to be quick and decisive; it needed to paralyze the response from the government. Once they had everything in place it was time for the revolution.
It started out with a peaceful demonstration in Washington. The members of the Silver Legion marched down the streets protesting the actions taken by the government. The march grew as citizens in Washington and the surrounding areas began to join. As they neared the Capitol Building the mood of the crowd changed from peaceful to tense. The Silver Legion members carefully placed their hands on their weapons, ready for the signal. Then the police attacked. Officers began trying the break up the march, but failed horrifically. The crowd began to fight back, and the Silver Legion led the surge, capturing the Capitol Building. Several of the Legion were left behind to guard the building and ensure that no one left while the rest marched on the White House. The National Guard was waiting for them, but as the crowd approached a few of them, those that were members of the Legion, stood aside, and the rest of the guard followed suit. The nation’s capital was under the control of the Silver Legion.
“People of the former Commonwealth of America, I am Jacques Schnee leader of the Silver Legion of America. The Second World War changed the fate of our great nation, a fate that could have been avoided if not for the actions of President Hoover and President Garner. They dragged this once great nation into a war that ultimately destroyed it. However we will not let the past control us. Today is the start of a brand new future. As of today the Constitution of the Commonwealth of America is suspended, along with the entirety of the government. We need a strong hand to guide us through these turbulent times. We as a nation are only as strong as our weakest link. I am committed to strengthening our military to combat the threats in the world. Let there be no doubt that our nation will rise to every challenge set before us. We will survive.”
